BRIEF: Woman dies after being hit by Blue Line train

April 11--A 56-year-old woman died after she was struck by a Blue Line train early Friday.

She was struck by an 'L' train at the Irving Park Blue Line station, 4131 W. Irving Park Rd., about 6:30 a.m., police said.

The woman, identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Lillian Kirkman of the 2700 block of S. State Street in Chicago, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m., officials said.

Further details about the accident were not immediately available.

Blue Line trains were briefly halted following the incident. Service resumed just before 7 a.m., according to a CTA alert.
