BRIEF: Driver killed in Pilsen hit-and-run

April 14--A 59-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash Monday evening in the city's Pilsen neighborhood, police said.

The two-car collision occurred at 8:20 p.m. in the 900 block of West 16th Street, Chicago police spokesman Officer Veejay Zala said.

A Ford sedan was traveling eastbound on 16th Street when it struck a Toyota station wagon traveling on Morgan Street, police said.

The woman, identified as Linda Forbes, was extricated from her vehicle, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Forbes, of the 1000 block of West 16th Street, was pronounced dead at 9:24 p.m. at Stroger Hospital, according to the medical examiner's office.

Two men were seen fleeing the scene, police said. There were no other injury reports.

The department's major accidents unit is investigating.
