BRIEF: Woman dead after being shot in face on South Side

Feb. 18--A woman died after being shot in the face in a Gresham apartment Wednesday evening, authorities said.

At about 8 p.m., she was in a second-floor apartment in the 7800 block of South Honore Street with a several other people when she was shot, according to law enforcement sources. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are still searching for the shooter.

Later Wednesday night, at 9:45 p.m., a 60-year-old man was shot in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, police said. He was in the 800 block of North Central Park Avenue when people in two cars began shooting at each other, and he was hit in the arm by a stray bullet. He was taken to Norwegian American Hospital in good condition.
