BRIEF: Woman killed, 5 injured when car flips over on Eisenhower

July 31--A woman was killed and five other people were injured when their car flipped over on the Eisenhower Expressway early Friday, officials said.

The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. in the outbound lanes of the Interstate 290 near Laramie Avenue, according to Illinois State Police.

A woman in her 20s was pronounced dead at the scene, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.

Two males and three females were also injured in the crash and were listed in serious to critical condition, Langford said.

The males were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, and the females were taken to Stroger Hospital, Langford said.

Illinois State Police officials closed several outbound lanes to investigate the crash. Officials hoped to reopen all lanes sometime after 8 a.m.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
