BRIEF: Woman charged with child endangerment after Portage Park crash

May 31--Authorities charged a 24-year-old woman with child endangerment after she was accused of driving drunk and crashing a car early Monday in the Portage Park neighborhood, hurting a man and three children inside.

Shortly before 3 a.m. Monday, a 2002 Nissan Sentra was westbound in the 4900 block of West Irving Park Road when it crashed into a parked car and veered into a pole, police said. The car's driver, Samantha Quinones, also was injured.

The driver and the man were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, and the children were taken to Lutheran General Hospital.

Quinones was arrested after being identified as the driver.

Quinones, of the 3100 block of North Nashville Avenue, was charged with a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence and three misdemeanor counts of causing a child to be endangered, according to a news release from the Chicago Police Department.

Quinones is scheduled to appear in Cook County bond court June 27, the release said.
