BRIEF: Woman assaulted at Near West Side bus stop

Oct. 16--A man sexually assaulted a woman who had been waiting at a Near West Side bus stop early Thursday, police said.

The 23-year-old woman was at a bus stop in the 2100 block of West Madison Street when she was attacked about 5:05 a.m., according to police.

A man grabbed her and forced her to a secluded area, where he assaulted her, according to an alert issued by police. The woman fought off the attacker, who hit her and then ran west, according to police.

The man was described as black, about 20 to 27 years old, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and 165 to 200 pounds. He has a light complexion, brown eyes and his hair was cut short. He was wearing a sweater or shirt that was tan or another light color and loose gray pants or sweatpants.

Anyone with information was asked to call 911 or detectives at 312-747-8380.
