BRIEF: Woman, 77, found with head trauma after home invasion on North Side

Jan. 09--Police are investigating a suspected home invasion after a 77-year-old woman was discovered lying on her kitchen floor with head trauma Saturday morning in the city's Lakeview neighborhood.

About 6 a.m., officers were alerted to a burglary in the 3600 block of North Magnolia Avenue. When they arrived, police found a rear door had been forced open and the woman was left lying in the kitchen with visible head and facial trauma, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.

The woman was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where her condition was stabilized, Estrada said.

It appeared items may have been removed from the residence. Police were investigating.
