BRIEF: Woman, 6 kids held at gunpoint during Marquette Park home invasion

March 17--A woman and six children were held at gunpoint Thursday as three men ransacked their Marquette Park neighborhood home, according to police.

The incident occurred at 8:45 a.m. in a single-family home in the 7100 block of South Francisco Avenue, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

Three men broke into the home and held the 35-year-old woman and the six children at gunpoint as they "ransacked" the home, Pacheco said.

As the intruders were searching the home, a 35-year-old man arrived but fled as some of the men chased him to the street and fired shots at him but missed, Pacheco said.

A dog was struck in the head with a blunt object but survived, Pacheco said.

None of the residents was injured and nothing was taken from the home, police said. Area Central detectives were investigating whether the incident was related to narcotics, police said.
