BRIEF: Pedestrian, 54, dies in Justice wreck

Feb. 24--A woman was killed when a car hit her Saturday night in southwest suburban Justice, officials said.

An autopsy Sunday determined Shelley O'Brien, 54, of the 300 block of Oak Lane in Justice, died of multiple injuries she suffered when an auto struck her, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. O'Brien's death was ruled an accident.

The crash happened at the intersection of 86th Avenue and 79th Street outside of a tavern at 10:52 p.m. Saturday, officials said.

O'Brien was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:09 p.m., according to the medical examiner.

Justice Mayor Kris Wasowicz said the crash was not a hit and run.

The motorist who struck the victim was not issued any citations and was not impaired, said the mayor.

"It was a tragic accident,'' Wasowicz said.

Police were not available.
