BRIEF: Woman, 53, fatally struck by car in Wicker Park

Dec. 09--A woman has died after being struck by a car while walking in Wicker Park on Monday, authorities said.

The pedestrian, 53, was hit about 7:40 p.m. Monday in the 1600 block of West Division Street, police said.

A 23-year-old woman driving a 2011 Nissan Juke was turning eastbound onto Division Street from a CVS parking lot when she struck the woman who was in the roadway, police said.

The 53-year-old was taken to John H. Stroger Hospital where she was later pronounced dead, said Chicago Police Officer Amina Greer, a spokeswoman.

As of early Tuesday, the woman had not been identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The 23-year-old driver was issued a traffic citation in the incident, police said.
