BRIEF: With Nate Thompson sidelined, Ducks sign center Mike Santorelli

Aug. 17--With center Nate Thompson possibly sidelined through January following off-season shoulder surgery, the Ducks on Monday signed center Mike Santorelli to a one-year, $875,000 contract.

Santorelli, 29, has played in 336 NHL games and split the 2014-15 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Nashville Predators, finishing with 12 goals and 33 points.

A sixth-round pick in 2004, Santorelli has also played for Florida, Winnipeg and Vancouver. He scored a career-best 20 goals and 41 points with the Panthers in 2010-11.

Thompson was injured in the regular-season finale in Arizona, but he endured the discomfort of two tears in the labrum of his left shoulder to help push the Ducks to Game 7 of the Western Conference finals against eventual Stanley Cup-champion Chicago.

The Ducks' other lines are expected to be centered by Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler and Rickard Rakell this season. Training camp begins next month.
