BRIEF: With DT Jamal Milan's injury, Illini turn to a backup center

Sept. 10--Illinois interim coach Bill Cubit lauded freshman defensive tackle Jamal Milan after Saturday's victory against Kent State.

He will have to wait to make a second impression.

Milan, who played in a backup capacity, will miss Saturday's game against Western Illinois after suffering a lower-extremity injury at Tuesday's practice, a team spokesman confirmed.

With Teko Powell out for the season with a foot injury and Joe Fotu suspended indefinitely for violating team rules, the defensive tackle position has become thin. Cubit will turn to redshirt freshman Nick Allegretti, who is listed on the roster as the team's backup center.
