March 18--The Blackhawks will have to snap their four-game losing streak without one of their most important players.
Goaltender Corey Crawford has an upper-body injury and did not travel with the team before Friday's game against the Jets. He is considered day-to-day.
Crawford did not play in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Flyers but coach Joel Quenneville said backup Scott Darling's start already had been scheduled. Crawford has yet to miss a scheduled start this season because of injury.
In a corresponding move, the Hawks recalled goaltender Michael Leighton from Rockford, likely to serve as the backup Friday against the Jets.
Crawford is having his best season with the Hawks at 35-18-4 with a 2.32 goals-against average and seven shutouts, although he has allowed nine goals in his last two starts. Crawford has started 57 games this season, which is just two shy of his regular-season career high.
Leighton has a 2.44 GAA in 46 starts in Rockford with a record of 28-8-8. Darling is 14-6-6 this season in 19 starts with a 2.6 GAA and a save percentage of .912.
