BRIEF: Windy City Playhouse announces season of several Chicago premieres

Sept. 09--Windy City Playhouse, Chicago's newest Equity company, has announced its 2016 season. Two Chicago premieres are slated for the coming year, marking the theater's second year of operation.

First up, veteran Chicago director David H. Bell takes on "The Explorers Club" by Nell Benjamin. The slapstick farce set in a Victorian-era scientific gentleman's club begins Jan. 27.

Following is "This" by Melissa James Gibson, directed by Windy City Playhouse artistic associate Carl Menninger. Performances begin June 15 for this play about four thirtysomethings whose friendship is tested after an act of infidelity.

Closing out the season is Jeff Daniels' "Apartment 3A," directed by long-time Chicago director Ron OJ Parson. A young idealist is at her breaking point when a new neighbor brings some luck in this comedy opening Oct. 5.

Windy City Playhouse strives to make entertaining and accessible performance, and has received attention for its non-traditional theater space filled with comfy lounge chairs and a full service bar.

All performances will take place at Windy City Playhouse, 3014 W. Irving Park Rd.
