Dec. 01--Theatre at the Center has announced that William Pullinsi will retire as artistic director of the company, effective Jan. 1.
Pullinsi has served as artistic director of Theatre at the Center in Munster, Ind., since 2005 and worked extensively as a director in the Chicago area for most of his career. Pullinsi was also the founder and artistic director of Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, a pioneer dinner theater which opened in Summit in 1961 and produced five shows annually for 31 years, sparking the careers of many now-famous actors.
Linda Fortunato, choreographer of Theatre at the Center's recent production of "Spamalot," will replace Pullinsi. In Chicago, she has worked as a performer, director and choreographer with the Marriott Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, the Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook Terrace, Theatre at the Center and Chicago Dramatists. She is currently on the part-time faculty at Columbia College Chicago.
Theatre at the Center is at 1040 Ridge Road.
