BRIEF: White Sox prospect Chris Beck to make major-league debut Thursday

May 27--TORONTO -- White Sox prospect Chris Beck will make his major-league debut when he joins the Sox as the 26th man for the team's doubleheader in Baltimore on Thursday.

Sox left-hander Chris Sale will pitch in the first game, and Beck, a 24-year-old right-hander, will start the second game.

Beck, ranked the club's No. 12 prospect by MLB.com, is 3-2 with a 3.30 ERA, 11 walks, 33 strikeouts and a 1.19 WHIP over eight starts this season with Triple-A Charlotte.

"We've gotten great reports on him, so we feel it's a good time for him to come up and start and start that process," Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "Control-wise he's done great. ... What he did in spring, as well as what he's done now, you give him this opportunity."

Sox left-hander Carlos Rodon, who was skipped in the rotation for planned rest Monday, next will pitch Friday for the opener of a three-game series in Houston. Hector Noesi, who started in Rodon's place Monday, will return to the bullpen, but he could be in line for a start next week, Ventura said.
