BRIEF: White Sox minor-league pitcher announces PED suspension on Twitter

March 29--White Sox minor-league pitcher Kameron Loe announced on Twitter that he will be serving an 80-game suspension for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

Loe joined the Sox on a minor-league deal at the beginning of March and wasn't a part of big-league camp. A Sox spokesman said Major League Baseball had not yet released details of the suspension.

In a series of 12 tweets, Loe said he bought at a store a supplement that was not NSF Certified For Sport and used it before he signed the deal with the Sox.

He apologized to the White Sox and MLB and said it was "deeply embarrassing that it looks like I tried to cheat the game."

Loe, 34, had pitched in 322 major-league games over nine seasons, including seven games with the Cubs in 2013, the last year he appeared in the big leagues.
