Sunday's recap: Tigers 5, White Sox 2

June 06--White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana gave up a season-high five earned runs in 4 2/3 innings in a 5-2 loss to the Tigers on Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park.

The Tigers loaded the bases with one out in the fifth on Ian Kinsler's single, Cameron Maybin's double and Miguel Cabrera's intentional walk. Quintana then got Victor Martinez to pop out without a run scoring and got to an 0-2 count against J.D. Martinez.

But he threw four straight balls to walk in a run before Nick Castellanos' RBI single and Justin Upton's RBI double.

The Sox finished 2-7 on their road trip and have gone 2-11 against the American League Central since May 20.

At the plate

Jose Abreu hit his first home run since May 17, a solo shot to center field that was his third career homer off Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander. Todd Frazier added a solo homer in the sixth.

The Sox put runners on second and third with no outs in the third and didn't score. Adam Eaton grounded out softly and Jason Coats and Abreu struck out.

Jimmy Rollins reached third with one out in the fifth and didn't score.

On the mound

Quintana gave up the Tigers' first run on Cabrera's RBI double in the third. Cabrera drove in Maybin, who walked with two outs.

Injury report

Sox outfielder Austin Jackson remained out of the lineup with turf toe in his left foot. J.B. Shuck also was out with a sore shoulder after a collision with Jason Coats in the outfielder Saturday.
