April 27--Avisail Garcia hit a solo home run off Blue Jays right-hander R.A. Dickey, and the White Sox gave left-hander Chris Sale a 4-0 lead through five innings Tuesday night at the Rogers Centre.
Garcia's homer to center field in the second inning was his third of the season and was his third hit in two games against the Blue Jays.
The Sox added three runs in the fifth inning. Austin Jackson's bases-loaded double to right-center field drove in two runs, and a third scored on Adam Eaton's sacrifice fly to left field.
Sale pitched five scoreless innings to start in his bid become baseball's first five-game winner this season.
Entering Tuesday, Sale had faced 74 straight batters without a walk, but that streak ended at 76 when he walked Jose Bautista with two outs in the first inning. He also walked Troy Tulowitzki in the second inning but the Blue Jays couldn't make anything of it.
"There's confidence in the guys we have that he doesn't feel like he has to strike everybody out, doesn't have to throw a shutout every time," Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "He just wants to win. It's not necessarily about his strikeouts. Even though he can strike people out he just wants to win."
