BRIEF: White Sox Game Day: Not looking for another battle Royal

April 24--The White Sox and Royals return for round 2, or make that game 2 of their contentious series Friday night at U.S. Cellular Field.

The series-opener Thursday night saw the teams engage in a benches-clearing brawl in the seventh inning. Five players were ejected with possible suspensions looming.

The ejected players were Chris Sale and Jeff Samardzija from the White Sox and Yordano Ventura, Lorenzo Cain and Edinson Volquez from the Royals.

Adam Eaton of the Sox had hit a routine ground ball to the mound when Yordano Ventura fielded the ball, took a few steps toward Eaton who was running to first, and yelled an obscenity. Eaton took offense and the dugouts emptied.

"This game is emotional and it seems to follow (the Royals) around," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said after his team's 3-2 loss in 13 innings.

The White Sox will send lefthander Jose Quintana to the mound Friday night against southpaw Danny Duffy.
