BRIEF: Sunday's recap: Twins 8, White Sox 1

May 25--The summary

Brian Dozier hit two home runs and starting pitcher Kyle Gibson throttled the White Sox on four hits in eight innings Sunday as the Twins rolled to an 8-1 victory in front of 30,180 at gloomy U.S. Cellular Field. It ended a disappointing 2-5 homestand for the Sox.

On the mound

Losing pitcher Jose Quintana allowed the first of two home runs by Dozier to start the game. He allowed seven runs (six earned) in six innings.

At the plate

Jose Abreu belted his seventh homer of the season for the Sox's only run in the fourth inning.

In the field

Center fielder Adam Eaton committed a key error in the Twins' four-run fourth when he whiffed on a line drive by Joe Mauer.

The number

11 -- Games on the Sox's upcoming road trip, their longest this season in games and days.

The quote

"He just missed it. It's that simple. There are no excuses for it, he just missed it. You expect him to make that play." -- manager Robin Ventura on Eaton's error.
