June 20--With pitching ace Chris Sale on the mound, Friday night appears to be the best time for the Chicago White Sox to put an end to their recent misery.
Entering with a seven-game losing, the Sox open a three-game series against the Texas Rangers at U.S. Cellular Field.
Sale (6-3, 3.01) is facing Colby Lewis (6-3, 4.37). The Rangers have beaten the Sox two out of three times entering Friday's game. The Sox, who continue to struggle at the plate, hit .221 with a 6.26 ERA in their previous three games with the Rangers.
Texas (36-31) has out-scored the Sox 19-12 so far.
The White Sox have been limited to four hits or fewer in four straight games for the first time in club history. All four of those games were against the Pirates.
Sale will be attempting to join Pedro Martinez (Boston in '99) and Randy Johnson (Seattle in '98) as the only pitchers to strike out 12 or more batters in five consecutive games.
