May 28--BALTIMORE -- The White Sox take on the Orioles this afternoon in a doubleheader in front of actual fans, after playing in an empty ballpark last month due to the unrest in the city.
After salvaging the final game of the series in Toronto, the Sox are four games under .500 and in last-place in the dog-eat-dog AL Central.
Virtually no one saw this coming, and now it's up to the Sox to start living up to the preseason expectations or get used to hearing about rumors of a fire sale.
"Expectations are expectations and it's fine," manager Robin Ventura said. "It's good to have expectations. We've kind of been on the other side of that where we didn't have expectations, it's not as fun to not have expectations.
"The pressure part you probably get that, but that's part of playing the game. There should be that. It's frustrating when you don't win as you expect but as far as the other stuff, we're trying to win that game that day and I don't think that has anything to do with expectations."
Chris Sale starts the opening game of the doubleheader, with Avisail Garcia out of the lineup again to rest his sore knees.
