July 23--Left-hander John Danks tries to help the White Sox stop a three-game losing streak when the Sox take on the Cardinals in the finale of a two-game series Wednesday night at U.S. Cellular Field. The Sox have lost five of their last six games, including an 8-5 loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday night.

At the plate

Sox center fielder Adam Eaton will lead off, followed by third baseman Tyler Saladino, first baseman Jose Abreu, left fielder Melky Cabrera, right fielder Avisail Garcia, designated hitter Adam LaRoche, shortstop Alexei Ramirez, catcher Tyler Flowers and second baseman Carlos Sanchez.

On the mound

Danks enters with a 5-8 record and 4.98 ERA. He faces Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn, who is 7-5 with a 2.79 ERA.

Key number

.220 -- Sox batting average over the last nine games since July 9. They are scoring 2.8 runs per game in that span.

The quote
