BRIEF: White Sox call up Tommy Kahnle, place Daniel Webb on DL

April 30--White Sox reliever Daniel Webb was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday afternoon, one day after making his season debut in a loss to the Orioles at Camden Yards.

Webb, who has right elbow flexor inflammation, gave up two hits and a walk and struck out three in a scoreless inning Thursday.

The Sox recalled right-handed reliever Tommy Kahnle to fill Webb's spot. Kahnle, an offseason trade acquisition from the Rockies, has a 3.00 ERA and 12 strikeouts in seven appearances at Triple-A Charlotte. He has limited right-handers to a .096 batting average this year.

It was the Sox's sixth roster move in the last six days. Webb was called up Wednesday, one day before closer David Robertson was placed on the bereavement list.

He is the second player to be called up and go on the DL in the same week. Catcher Kevan Smith injured his back about an hour before his major-league debut Monday.
