BRIEF: White Sox bring back Dan Jennings from disabled list

July 01--The Chicago White Sox reinstated left-handed reliever Dan Jennings from the 15-day disabled list before Wednesday's game against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium.

They optioned right-hander Junior Guerra to Triple-A Charlotte to make room for Jennings' return.

Jennings had been out since June 5 with inflammation on the left side of his neck. He had started the season strong, posting a 2.70 ERA over 10 innings in April, but his ERA slowly climbed to 7.83 over 22 appearances this season.

During his rehab stint with Charlotte, Jennings allowed two earned runs over six innings in three appearances.

Guerra made his major-league debut with the Sox in June and allowed three earned runs over four innings pitched with the team.

Jennings' return gives the Sox another lefty in the bullpen along with veteran Zach Duke.
