BRIEF: White Sox avoid arbitration with 3 players

Jan. 16--The Chicago White Sox avoided salary arbitration with pitchers Hector Noesi, Javy Guerra and Nate Jones.

Noesi, 28, agreed to a $1.95 million contract. Noesi was a combined 8-12 with a 4.75 ERA in 33 games with the Sox, Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners.

Guerra, 29, was 2-4 with a 2.91 ERA in 42 appearances with the Sox. He agreed to a $937,500 contract.

Jones, who pitched in only two games because of hip and elbow injuries, will receive $660,000.

The signings leave pitcher Jeff Samardzija and catcher Tyler Flowers as the Sox's only unsigned arbitration eligible players. Salary figures will be exchanged Friday night if both sides cannot agree to terms, with hearings scheduled for next month.
