BRIEF: What's the Deal?: $2 burgers at Rockit

Aug. 07--What's the deal with "What's the Deal?" It's simple: This column brings you a bargain you can't refuse.

The last time you paid less than $8 for a non-fast-food burger was probably outside of city limits or in 1998. That changes now; head to Wrigleyville for fire-sale prices on juicy patties.

The restaurant: Rockit Burger Bar (3700 N. Clark St., 773-645-4400)

The day: Wednesdays, 5-10 p.m.

The deal: Fill your stomach with a quarter-pound of Angus beef between two buttery buns for just $2 (regularly $11), as long as you buy something to drink (soda counts). Free toppings: lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, ketchup and/or mustard. The even better deal, if you're already planning on boozing: The burger is knocked down to $1 when you order any 22-ounce beer, starting at $15.

The restrictions: Not available during Cubs home games; limit two burgers per person.
