Dec. 02--The Chicago area is seeing light snow Wednesday morning, slowing travel times on expressways.
An inch or two of accumulation could end up on grassy areas and surfaces below freezing, with wet and slushy streets and roadways creating some hazardous driving conditions.
Farther north, closer to the Illinois-Wisconsin state line, accumulations could be greater.
Skies will improve as clouds thin Wednesday night, with warming expected to begin Thursday.
As a ridge of high pressure builds over the central and eastern portions of the United States, sunny days and fair skies at night are expected through the weekend and into the first part of next week.
Saturday and Sunday look to have abundant sunshine with unseasonably mild afternoon temps in the 50s, some 10-15 degrees above normal.
