BRIEF: West Rogers Park woman charged with killing toddler

Nov. 10--A 22-year-old West Rogers Park woman was charged with murder in the death of a 3-year-old boy, Chicago police said Sunday night.

Tylesha Griffin, 22, of the 6500 block of North Seeley Avenue, was charged in the death of Donnell Coakley, of the same address.

The boy was pronounced dead at 9:55 p.m. Friday at Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. The medical examiner did not a list a cause of death for the boy, but has ruled that the death is a homicide.

He was found unresponsive in the home about 8:40 p.m. Friday and taken to St. Francis. Investigators found that Griffin was responsible for the child's injuries. Griffin was the mother of the 3-year-old, police sources said.

Police did not release any details of how the boy was injured.
