BRIEF: West Englewood shooting sends 1 to hospital

Nov. 08--A 17-year-old was shot in the leg Saturday morning in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, officials said.

The male teen was standing outside in the 5600 block of South Ashland Avenue when a gold sedan drove up and someone in the car fired shots, hitting him in the leg, said police spokeswoman Ana Pacheco.

Pacheco said he was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition after the 10:20 a.m. shooting.

Paramedics responded about 10:35 a.m., said Chicago Fire Department Chief Frank Velez.

No one is in custody, Pacheco said.
