BRIEF: Weekend toll: 4 dead, 24 wounded in shootings in Chicago

Dec. 07--Four people, including a 64-year-old man, were killed and at least 24 others were wounded in shootings between Friday evening and early Monday morning in Chicago.

The weekend toll brings the number of people shot in Chicago so far this year to nearly 2,800, about 440 more than this time last year. The number of homicides is at 458. That's 51 more than for the same period last year.

--The most violent period took place over 24 hours between 6:45 a.m. Saturday and 6:15 a.m. Sunday when two people were killed and at least 12 were wounded.

--Two men were killed and at least six people were wounded Friday evening and night.

--At least six people were wounded in shootings Sunday afternoon and evening.
