March 24--The Cubs left the plate empty-handed Wednesday during a 5-0 loss to the Rangers in Surprise, Ariz. They managed just five hits, struck out nine times, hit into a double play and saw just 110 pitches as they fell to 7-14-1 this spring.
At the plate: Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber had two hits and an accidental stolen base after a pickoff play went wrong for the Rangers.
On the mound: Kyle Hendricks recorded four of his five strikeouts in a row during the first and second innings. He gave up two earned runs, seven hits and walked one for the Cubs.
In the field: The Cubs made two errors and turned a pair of double plays.
