Feb. 24--Weather officials expect a brief mix of rain or snow to begin late Tuesday before wet, heavy snow blows in Wednesday with wind gusts up to 45 mph.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning Tuesday afternoon for Cook and Will counties. The biggest impact of the storm is expected to be south of Interstate 80 in Cook County, and in the eastern portion of Will County, officials said.
One to 7 inches of snow is possible in some areas. Officials caution northerly winds may gust up to 45 mph, and mixed with snow, could reduce visibility on roadways to near zero.
The high Tuesday night will be about 34 degrees. Wednesday's highs are expected to reach about 37, dropping to 29 in the night hours.
