April 02--It will be a windy and snowy Saturday, but temperatures will rise to the 60s on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
"It's a roller coaster," said weather service meteorologist Ricky Castro, who added that by Monday it's going to get cold again.
A wind advisory goes into effect at 10 a.m. Saturday and will expire about 7 p.m. That means gusts of 45 mph or more.
Though no accumulations except for minor ones are expected, the snow will fall for about an hour. Northern Cook County and Lake counties may have snowfall on grassy areas and dustings of a few tenths of an inch, according to Castro.
Another round of snow showers is expected Saturday afternoon, and temperatures will plunge into the upper 20s and low 30s on Saturday night.
Sunday, however, temperatures will be in the 60s, but come Monday, temperatures will drop again.
"It is spring, but it's not unusual to get snow in early April,'' Castro said.
"It's a fusion of transitions.''
