April 25--Online home goods store Wayfair can now also hook customers up with installation and assembly services in 15 metro areas, including Chicago.
Wayfair announced a partnership with Seattle-based Porch, which connects homeowners to local contractors, last week.
Wayfair shoppers who select Porch Home Services when checking out online will get an email from Porch to schedule a meeting with a contractor who can get the project done.
"Up until now, projects have required two separate transactions: needing to find the product that is right for you and then finding a qualified person to help with assembly and installation. Together, Wayfair and Porch remove this friction and make the entire project easy to complete," Porch CEO Matt Ehrlichman said in a statement.
The partnership also helps Wayfair match Amazon's offerings. Last year, Amazon launched Amazon Home Services, a market for professional services covering home improvement, tech support, yard and outdoor work and other projects. Amazon says it has "high" service coverage in 30 cities, including Chicago.
