BRIEF: Wayback Burgers joins Chicago-area's crowded burger market

Jan. 06--Attention new year's resolution calorie counters: A new burger chain is in town.

Just in time to lure you away from that fresh-start vegan or low-carb resolution, Connecticut-based Wayback Burgers announced plans Wednesday to open its first Chicago-area location in Naperville.

Set to open in the spring, the franchised fast-casual restaurant joins a slew of burgers joints that have set up shop in the Chicago area in recent years, including Shake Shack and Red Robin. Wayback said it will add nearly 20 new jobs to the economy in a 2,150-square-foot space that will be modeled after retro-American roadside burger joints.

The Wayback chain sells itself as offering handmade, cooked-to-order burgers and milkshakes. The burgers begin in a single size but are offered up to a "triple triple" size, which contains nine hamburger patties. For those looking for lighter fare, the restaurants also offer crispy and grilled chicken sandwiches, turkey burgers, veggie burgers and salads.

Founded in 1991, Wayback operates in 22 states with over 100 locations in the United States and abroad.
