BRIEF: Watch Smashing Pumpkins, guitarist James Iha reunite at LA concert

March 28--Former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha reunited with frontman Billy Corgan on stage for the first time in 16 years at a Los Angeles show Saturday.

Iha, Corgan and original Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin played tracks off the 1993 album "Siamese Dream," including "Mayonaise" and "Soma," which Iha co-wrote. Corgan and the crowd also sang happy birthday to Iha, who turned 48 years old Saturday.

Iha, who grew up in Elk Grove Village and attended Loyola University, embarked on a solo career after the Pumpkins broke up in 2000. Corgan and Chamberlin revived the Chicago band in 2006.

The band, which kicked off its "In Plainsong" tour last week, is scheduled to play the Civic Opera House with Chicago singer-songwriter Liz Phair at 7:30 p.m. April 14.
