BRIEF: Watch Shedd Aquarium's recently rescued sea otter adapt to new home

March 07--Pup 719 is settling into her new home at the Shedd Aquarium.

The southern sea otter pup, which was rescued by the Monterey Bay Aquarium off the coast of California Jan. 6, is beginning to show more independence since arriving at the Shedd in late January.

Experts gauged that the pup was about 4 weeks old when she was rescued. Now 13 weeks old, she weighs just under 15 pounds and can hop in and out of the water with ease, according to a Shedd rep.

The pup has started basic training, which includes learning to touch a trainer's hand with her paw.
