Feb. 17--Plainfield native Melissa McCarthy plays an enthusiastic contestant on "Supermarket Spree" in a newly released "Saturday Night Live" sketch that was cut for time Saturday.
The sketch is a take on the canceled game show "Supermarket Sweep," which tested competitors' knowledge of food and their ability to shop for expensive supermarket items in a set time.
McCarthy, 45, hosted "SNL" over the weekend with musical guest Kanye West. She played a pick-up artist in training and a cat lady, among other characters.
McCarthy is set to appear in the Chicago-set comedy "The Boss" and the upcoming "Ghostbusters" reboot.
"SNL" airs on NBC at 10:30 p.m.
