BRIEF: Watch Fred Armisen pay tribute to David Bowie on 'SNL'

Jan. 18--"Portlandia" star Fred Armisen made a surprise visit to "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend to remember David Bowie, who died Jan. 10 after an 18-month battle with cancer.

"When I was in high school and living in Long Island, I stayed up to see David Bowie play on 'Saturday Night Live' and watching him was, for me, a life-changing experience," said Armisen, a former "SNL" cast member who honed his comedy skills in Chicago.

"David Bowie transformed whatever space he was in, whatever medium he was using and that night for me, he transformed live television."

Armisen then introduced a clip of Bowie's 1979 performance of "The Man Who Sold The World" on "SNL."

"SNL" airs on NBC at 10:30 p.m. Ronda Rousey is scheduled to host Saturday with musical guest Selena Gomez.
