BRIEF: Victory Gardens will host 'We Must Breathe'

Dec. 10--In the wake of controversial grand jury decisions in the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases, Victory Gardens Theater will host a discussion on issues of inequality and race on Thursday, Dec. 18, a spokeswoman for the theater said Wednesday.

"We Must Breath: A Response from Chicago Playwrights and Poets" will combine a discussion with members of Chicago's artistic community with performances from poets and playwrights including Marcus Gardley, Tanya Saracho, Nambi Kelley, Andrew Hinderaker, Kristiana Col󮬠Calamity West, Damon Williams, Nikki Patin, Javon Smith, Kevin Coval and Malcolm London.

Joanie Schultz will direct the performance, while Congo Square Theatre artistic director Samuel Roberson will moderate the discussion.

Admission to the event is free. Tickets are available at victorygardens.org or by calling 773-871-3000. Victory Gardens Theater is located at 2433 N. Lincoln Ave.
