BRIEF: Vegetables stolen from Downers Grove garden plot

Nov. 06--Vegetables were reported stolen out of a community garden managed by the park district late last month, according to police.

The vegetables were planted at the Mar-Duke Farm near 68th and Main streets, according to a police report.

The owner told police he arrived at the garden and found his planted vegetables and the steel posts surrounding his three plots ripped out of the ground. The report says that the goods were worth about $200. He said the theft occurred Oct. 26 or Oct. 27.

The plots are available to Downers Grove residents and span 20 by 30 feet, according to the park district website.
