BRIEF: 'Vague' threat prompts extra security at Waukegan school

Jan. 26--A threat written on a Waukegan middle school bathroom wall has prompted extra security at the school Tuesday morning, District 60 officials said.

The message, discovered Monday, was "vague in details" but threatened to cause harm at Daniel Webster Middle School on Tuesday, district officials said. School officials said to expect extra police around the middle school Tuesday.

District spokesman Nick Alajakis said police swept the building Tuesday morning and did not find anything.

The school was on soft lockdown, meaning classes went on as normal but there was extra security, he said.

Alajakis declined to provide additional details on the threat that was found. The person who wrote the message has not been identified but police are continuing to investigate, he said.

Any student involved would face consequences from the school and police, district officials said.
