April 13--USC backup quarterback Max Browne will go into the summer with a big dose of confidence.
Browne, a third-year sophomore, completed 24 of 37 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns in the Trojans' modified scrimmage that concluded spring practice Saturday at the Coliseum.
Browne connected with walk-on receiver Christian Tober for a four-yard touchdown and with JuJu Smith on a 15-yard scoring play.
USC Coach Steve Sarkisian limited starter Cody Kessler's snaps and, to avoid injuries, called only a few running plays.
"Max Browne did what he's been doing all spring long," Sarkisian said. "He just comes in and he's been making plays."
The 6-foot-5 Browne said this spring that he was playing without hesitation after two years in the program.
The Trojans open the 2015 season Sept. 5 against Arkansas State.
