BRIEF: USC's JuJu Smith-Schuster and Cameron Smith held out of contact drills

Nov. 09--USC receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and linebacker Cameron Smith were held out of contact drills on Monday as the Trojans began preparations for Friday night's game at Colorado.

Smith-Schuster had eight catches in Saturday's victory over Arizona, which came five days after the sophomore had surgery to repair a fracture in his right hand.

Smith-Schuster, still wearing a soft cast, ran routes and participated in a few drills but did not attempt to catch balls thrown by quarterbacks. He is expected to play Friday.

Smith, a freshman, made six tackles against Arizona but suffered a shoulder injury. He was scheduled to have an MRI exam on Monday. Interim coach Clay Helton called the test "preventative" and said he expected Smith would be available Friday.

USC is scheduled to travel to Colorado on Thursday.

The Trojans are 9-0 against the Buffaloes in a series that dates to 1927.

Colorado dropped to 4-6 overall and 1-5 in Pac-12 play on after losing to Stanford, 42-10.
