BRIEF: USC's George Farmer finally being sent deep for touchdowns

Dec. 01--Receiver George Farmer is among the players whom USC Coach Steve Sarkisian will meet with this week to discuss their futures.

Farmer, a junior, is draft eligible, but he is expected to return for his final season of eligibility -- especially if gets assurances that he will become a larger part of the offense.

Farmer finally got an opportunity to use his straight-ahead speed Saturday against Notre Dame, and he beat defensive backs for touchdown pass plays of 48 and 31 yards in the Trojans' 49-14 victory.

Farmer has 24 receptions, four for touchdowns.

Why did it take so long for Farmer to emerge?

Sarkisian cited a hamstring injury that slowed the former Gardena Serra High star for part of the season -- and two other factors.

"His comfort level in the scheme and understanding what we're doing has definitely evolved," Sarkisian said. "The comfort level of the quarterback believing in him has really emerged.

"So all of these things have come into play where George has played really good football the last three or four weeks."
