BRIEF: USC guard Malik Marquetti becomes team's fourth off-season transfer

April 07--USC guard Malik Marquetti has announced he will transfer from the basketball program, becoming the team's fourth transfer this off-season.

A fifth player, point guard Julian Jacobs, has declared for the NBA draft, though he has not hired an agent and is eligible to return.

The third season under Coach Andy Enfield was a success few Pac-12 Conference observers predicted. The Trojans lost just one senior to graduation and brought in a talented three-man recruiting class, plus the addition of Louisville transfer guard Shaqquan Aaron.

But the success, as well as the influx of talent, has prompted a wave of departures.

Marquetti, a team captain, averaged two points in 7.3 minutes per game last season.

"Thanks for the memories," Marquetti tweeted on Thursday. Under NCAA rules, he will have to sit out a year before becoming eligible to play.

Marquetti is the second member of the backcourt to leave following USC's season-ending loss to Providence in the NCAA tournament in March. Katin Reinhardt, who started 18 games, announced his transfer last week.

Two forwards, Darion Clark and Malik Martin, will also transfer.
