BRIEF: USC freshman cornerback Iman Marshall may start against Stanford

Sept. 16--Freshman Iman Marshall already plays a major role for USC's defense as a third cornerback.

Marshall's role could become even more significant on Saturday when the sixth-ranked Trojans play Stanford in a Pac-12 opener at the Coliseum.

With senior cornerback Kevon Seymour nursing a knee injury, Marshall could possibly start for the first time opposite Adoree' Jackson.

Defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox said Marshall's competitiveness and physical play stand out.

"He's got size and athletic ability," Wilcox said Wednesday after practice. "Has he seen every different route concept and is he perfect? No, but he'll go out there and compete."

Jackson and sophomore Jonathan Lockett started at cornerback in last week's 59-9 victory over Idaho.
