BRIEF: United partners with Air China on more flights

June 02--Chicago-based United Airlines on Tuesday said it has expanded its partnership with Air China, covering 22 more routes in China and the U.S.

The two airlines, both members of the Star Alliance, will "codeshare" on more than 110 routes.

New destinations within China that can be booked through United but are operated by Air China include domestic flights from Beijing to nine places: Mianyang, Taiyuan, Sanya, Shanghai Hongqiao, Yinchuan, Xining, Liuzhou, Haikou and Lanzhou. The agreement also includes a flight from Shanghai Pudong to Yinchuan.

The new codesharing routes went on sale Tuesday, United said.

In turn, United will share a dozen routes with Air China, from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington Dulles and Houston to other destinations in the U.S.

United and Air China have had cooperative agreements since 2003.

United began nonstop service to China in 1986 and today serves Beijing with nonstop flights from a variety of U.S. airports, including O'Hare International Airport.
